Moreton’s Cork flooring Brisbane South was contacted in early December to provide a quotation to complete the rejuvenation of the existing hardwood timber engineered floating floor in a recently acquired apartment on Wellington Rd South Brisbane. Upon inspection, the engineered hardwood timber flooring was found to be unrepairable and the discussion turned to alternative floor coverings.
Our client mentioned that they had a beautiful natural cork floor in their previous home in Sunnybank, the cork floor had lasted many years and was easily maintained.
A few samples of cork floor tiles and patterns were set out in the apartment for consideration. After considering different cork tile patterns and colors, solid timber flooring, wide boards, narrow timber floorboards, block parquetry, mosaic parquetry flooring and the many different species and grades of timber available our client settled on a new cork floor.
Some of the factors considered were the warmth a cork floor retains in the colder months, the ability to absorb the energy of a dropped plate or glass without it smashing, the ease of keeping it clean and finally the longevity that a cork floor gives. “The cushioned feel that a cork tile floor has compared to other floor coverings. “If I drop a glass on ceramic tiles it will break” commented our client.
After settling on a new cork floor to replace the engineered timber floating floor our client & I attend a previous client’s commercial installation on the Corner of James St, Doggett St & Wandoo St Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. Almost instantly our fastidious client confirmed they had to have our Calile Crème’s cork floor tile; an exclusive 600 x 300 x 10 mm tile finished installed offset as a brick bond pattern. Finished with a two-part waterborne Matt floor coating system for added protection.
This cork tile has that extra “Lux” appearance that projects a subtle warmth and beauty with an unmatched comfort that has to be walked on.
As part of this exclusive apartment building on Wellington Rd East Brisbane body corporate requirements, our tiles had to meet stringent acoustic requirements of this building and the body corporates own requirement.
To fulfill this requirement Moreton’s Cork Flooring Brisbane south contracted an independent sound engineer to complete testing onsite at Wellington Rd South Brisbane. Our team of professional tradesmen completed the floor removal, before preparing the existing concrete subfloor for the application of leveling compound. After 6 to 10 mm of leveling compounds were applied to get the floor flat and the compound had cured the installation process begun. Moreton’s Cork Flooring Brisbane south used a waterborne primer and adhesive to eliminate the use of volatile neo-preen primer for this cork floor at Wellington Rd East Brisbane with glowing reviews from other owners, the body corporate and the building manager.
